Yes, YOU! By just talking about blood donation, you can help save lives—no cape needed! Join us in the “Volunteers to Lifesavers” campaign and become a champion for health in our community.

Why Should You Care? ❤️🩸

Every 2 seconds, someone needs blood. It could be a friend, someone in your family, or even a neighbour. But there’s not always enough blood to help everyone who needs it. That’s where we come in—yes, we mean YOU and US together!

What Can YOU Do? 🤔💬

  1. Learn: First things first—get to know why blood donation is super important. Our campaign has loads of fun facts and stories to get you started.
  2. Talk: Chat about it with your family over dinner, bring it up at your sports practice, or even share a post on your family’s social media. Every conversation you start can lead to a life saved!
  3. Involve: Get your friends and family excited about helping out. Maybe they can donate blood, volunteer, or just keep the conversation going.

It’s Cool to Be Kind! 🌈✨

Sharing might seem simple, but it has the power to do big things. Imagine if every person you tell also tells someone else. That’s a lot of helpers and a lot of lives saved!

📚 Launching Our New Lesson Plan: Educating Tomorrow’s Lifesavers! 🎓

Today, we’re incredibly excited to share a new chapter in our “Volunteers to Lifesavers” initiative—our bespoke lesson plan designed to teach school students about the crucial role of blood donation in our communities. 🏫🩸

What’s in the Lesson Plan?

Our new curriculum, tailored for students in stages 2 and 3, is a comprehensive three-week programme that explores the significance of blood donation through interactive, educational, and age-appropriate activities. Each week, the students will engage in different aspects of learning:

  • Week 1: Introduction to the concept of community helpers, with a focus on medical professionals.
  • Week 2: Deep dive into what blood donation is and why it’s needed.
  • Week 3: Advocacy and how to support blood donation efforts, even as youngsters.

This isn’t just about imparting knowledge; it’s about inspiring a new generation to step up and contribute to a cause that impacts lives across the globe. 🌍💪

Aligned with Global Goals

We’re proud to say that our lesson plan aligns with the Australian and NSW Curriculum ( see footnote ) and several key Sustainable Development Goals. Here’s how we match up:

SDG Relevance
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being Directly supports health by promoting the importance of blood donations.
SDG 4: Quality Education Provides quality education materials that go beyond traditional learning.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities Ensures all children have access to life-saving health education.
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals Fosters collaboration between schools, health services, and community organisations.
